The Christian Missionary NGO ‘Food for the Hungry’ reports the work of one of its members Carol Danneberg working with isolated communities. ‘Carol serves poor communities in the Amazon jungle near the city of Pucallpa, Peru. As a health promoter in three communities, Carol assists other national promoters in conducting medical check-ups for children, obtaining needed medicines and holding educational seminars on health, hygiene and ways of preventing disease. Carol's main focus is working with children and teenagers through the Child-to-Child programme. The programme teaches children about physical and spiritual health while training them to teach others, thereby creating health promoters for the future.’
