Save the Children Canada

Programme operating both in and out of schools. School activities help to strengthen Health Promoting Schools.

Activities began in 1998. 6,500 children involved in 2001, mostly from primary and pre-schools with 1,250 from associations set up to help marginalised children such as disabled, street and working children. Promoting children’s participation and developing their life skills is at the heart of the programme and both teachers and children find the increased responsibilities given to children new and challenging. Training is provided based on Child-to-Child approaches and materials and local language materials and a video have been produced.
