Kyrgistan

Relevant background information

Health promotion personnel from Kyrgyzstan have visited and undertaken training at the Institute of Education in Pakistan where they will have learned Child-to-Child approaches. In 2001 Part 2 of the Child-to-Child Resource Book, which contains the activity sheets, was translated and printed in Russian by Save the Children UK's Kyrgyzstan Programme. The activity sheets are being used as training materials for Save the Children's local partners.

Note 1

Child-to-Child approaches in Children’s clubs

Save the Children U.K. reports:

“In Kyrgyzstan we have been working with school-based Children Clubs, who, by using Child-to-Child approaches, are reaching out to marginalised and disadvantaged children with the aim of bringing them back to school. This goes parallel with child- led initiatives – such as school projects and community events whereby marginalised and disadvantaged children are encouraged to participate and be part of it.”
