Care International El Salvador (in partnership with UNICEF/Save the Children (USA))
School based programme in two rural areas focusing on early childhood care and development.
The programme started in 2000 and by the end of 2001 was working in two areas: the central region (San Martín) and the eastern area (Usalatán). Children between 8 and 15 from four schools are involved. The role of both boys and girls as a complement to parents in the development and stimulation of young children is stressed. A four-step approach is used and the focus on ECCD stresses the development of tolerance and acceptance, understanding feelings and constructive play. Read more
