Note

Mine Risk Education (UNICEF)

The approach is ‘highly recommended’ by UNICEF who sent their Mine Risk Education [MRE] Officer for Training with Child-to-Child, London in 2003. She

‘came back and used her newly-gained knowledge and adapted it to community based MRE in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Subsequently she was able to develop the overall training curriculum for field workers and some of the modules directly related to CtC techniques, but adapted it to work with adults.

‘The NGO, Genesis, developed a peer-to-peer component of their MRE project. As all the Genesis staff attended the BHMAC (Bosnia and Herzegovina Mine Action Centre) training workshops, some of the CtC techniques have been adapted and included’.
