Note 1
Mine Risk Education

ANAMA/UNICEF

The Agency ANAMA, associated with UNICEF, UNDP and the national ministry of education, has developed and is implementing an important programme of Mine Risk Education in schools. Materials and training for mine risk education made use of Child-to-Child resources. They write “Introduction of MRE into school curriculum of 12 targeted frontline and border close districts. This pilot project means 570 teachers will get trained and approximately 15,000 pupils will get MRE textbooks and classes in 300 schools in 2004/05 school year”.

Note 2

Child-to-Child Network Peace Education

Not directly linked to any of the Child-to-Child resource centres the Child-to-Child Peace Education Network is still significant as an example of the power and influence children can have in campaigns against wars and violence. Assisted by UNICEF it sponsored a major international exhibition on Children’s Art which was used worldwide in efforts to promote awareness of children’s rights.
