GOAL Ireland (updated information in current activites)
Child-to-Child activities began in 1998 and are organised through a health centre and a group of schools which are funded by GOAL. The main aim of the Child-to-Child programme is to involve children as partners in health promotion and to make schools places where good health is practised. The children involved in the programme are aged between 9 and 15 years and include both boys and girls, some of whom are street children. Child-to-Child activities are also introduced outside of the school curriculum and through health education sessions within the community. Read more
Note 3
The Child to Child Approach to Peace and Conflict Resolution: Sudan
Fellowship for African Relief (FAR)
Report of activities ( March 2002 - March 2003).
Children who live in Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps in Sudan have experienced great hardship. Violence, kidnapping, family separation or disability as well as drought, floods, famine and disease have all had a negative impact on Sudan's children. With support from the Human Security Program, Fellowship for African Relief (FAR) is helping develop and build a culture of peace among children in Sudan's internally displaced camps and schools through the use of Child-to-Child peace and conflict resolution. The Child-to-Child methodology gets children to participate actively in a learning process by putting into practice what they have learned, and helping others to do the same. Internally displaced children learn decision-making and problem-solving skills and how to take responsibility for each other. Investment in Sudan's children is an investment in a peaceful future.
