Child-to-Child approaches for children affected by the Tsunami
UNICEF, together with other agencies, advocates approaches using the Child-to-Child methodology to displaced children affected by the Tsunami. Special training is being undertaken with help from experts from the Philippines.
Existing experience from Child-to-Child clubs is being used.

Mine and UXO education
UNICEF and MAG, together with local NGOs, continue to work with areas affected by the civil war. For example, between 2003 and 2004:
‘In the Trincomalee district, UNICEF works with Save the Children, White Pigeon and Community Trust Fund. Save the Children, in partnership with 14 children’s clubs and 20 schools, provided basic mine risk education for teachers, and held Child-to-Child workshops. White Pigeon and CTF have been conducting MRE sessions in many communities, and in 2003 distributed 6,000 pocket calendars containing MRE (Mine Risk Education) messages drawn by children, and 6,000 wall calendars with MRE messages.’
