About the programme
Save the Children USA fully fund their Child-to-Child activities and they began these in 1999/2000. The activities are organised and implemented through community development associations and educational edara, they involve both health and education. They take place across two districts in two governorates in Upper Egypt; Minia and Assiut and involve 249 primary and preparatory schools. 3000 children participate and 30,000 benefit. The main focus of the activities is children’s rights and health messages.

Child participation is encouraged through holding summer camps, small parliament committees and cartoons clubs. Stories, meetings, field visits and FGDs are also used. The full six steps is implemented within activities.

Co-curricular activities include summer camps and cartoon clubs, within school Child-to-Child is part of the small parliaments, including a school health committee. Parents and the community become involved in activities through home visits and meetings, their numbers are growing.
