Child-to-Child - pioneer in children's participation for the last 30 years.

We can help you with approaches and materials to improve your work with children.

What we do

  • Produce and disseminate appropriate and up-to-date health education materials and support national materials development, including the development and publication of materials in local first languages with local publishers. Buy our publications online (this link will direct you to an external site)
  • Provide training, implementation and evaluation support to projects in Africa, the Arab world, Latin America and Asia aimed to strengthen the skills of local people and help ensure the sustainability of their activities.
  • Hold short courses in London and elsewhere that are based upon the identified needs of participants and link course content with subsequent implementation.
  • Manage and present the wealth of information held by the Child-to-Child Trust in accessible and useful ways such as up-to-date and accurate documentation, production and dissemination of the annual review and newsletter, maintenance and updating of the web site. Influencing Policy & Practice

Lessons and action research from Child-to-Child have been used to advocate for children’s participation as well as influence policy in the area of health promotion. Examples included getting ready for schools with UNICEF, establishing health education as a part of national curricula; contributing to alternative community school programmes as in Zambia; and working with and contributing to major health and development programmes supported by international NGOs such as Water Aid, Save the Children, the Aga Khan Foundation, Plan International and many others.

Getting ready for schoolA three-year pilot project began in April 2007 in partnership between the Child-to-Child Trust and UNICEF. It supports programmes in a small number of countries worldwide to increase enrolment to class 1 in primary schools and to decrease drop-out, particularly among disadvantaged communities where children have no opportunities to attend pre-schools. Six countries representing different geographical regions have been identified to participate in the pilot. They are Bangladesh, China, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Tajikistan and Yemen.
